Rae Victorinette Lualhati
Teacher and Musician
“You take the opportunity that shows up for you.”
I believe that learning music is more than just reading notes and creating sounds, but is an opportunity to grow as a person. There is discipline and courage in music making, and this is part of my teaching philosophy.
I am Rae Victorinette Lualhati, a student of the University of Santo Tomas Conservatory of Music, Bachelor of Music Major in Cello Performance, under Prof. Arnold Josue.
Music had always been a part of my life. I started studying music through voice and piano lessons at a young age of 2 years old, and had my first voice and piano recital at 3 years old, when I was a student of Ms. Maita Rivera Lualhati. I started learning the cello formally in 2019 as I entered the conservatory, under Prof. Arnold Josue. I was also enrolled in piano lessons, having it as a minor in my course, under Prof. Fe Marsha Nicolas.
More than studying to be a soloist, ensemble playing is essential to the life of a musician. Other music groups I used to be a member of were the Angeli Dei Chorus, HISVOCESBEDA, the De La Salle University Integrated School Orchestra, the Lasallian Youth Orchestra, and Koro Lasalyano. Currently, I am a member of the University of Santo Tomas Symphony Orchestra Under Dr. Herminigildo Ranera, seated as the Assistant Principal Cello; and the Manila Symphony Junior Orchestra under Sir Jeffrey Solares.
The lessons I learn from my multiple teachers are valuable as they are more than how to read music--these are experiences I want to bring with me through my life and values I impart to my students.
