Raed Al Masri
Raed has been involved in founding and investing in software, digital, tech and telecom companies over the past 17 years in Canada. Raed founded SkySurf Canada, the exclusive operator for inflight communications (WiFi and GSM), exiting to GoGo Inflight out of Chicago. Most recently, Raed helped found a new venture capital fund with the unique backing of and access to Mubadala. The San Francisco based venture fund invests in both tech start-ups as well as other VC funds. Raed’s investments focus revolves around deep technologies such as AI, big data, genomics, satellite & earth observations, material physics, FinTech among other enterprise-related opportunities.
As an experienced entrepreneur, Raed understands the trials and tribulations of startup life. This unique perspective has armed him with a wealth of knowledge to pass on to the new businesses in which he is investing. He is a hands-on investor and prides himself on his ability to guide his portfolio companies to their ultimate goal using the lessons he has learned build several highly successful businesses.
Raed holds an electrical engineering degree from Carleton University in Ottawa, Canada and an MBA from Cornell University in Ithaca, New York. Raed remains a resident Canadian as he continues to build bridges between Silicon Valley, the UAE and Canada (specifically Toronto/Montreal) where he's been living for nearly 30 years.
