Rafael Perez, LCSWR, SEP
Somatic Psychotherapy in New Paltz, NY
I am a psychotherapist in private practice and a New York State Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSWR) with more than 28 years of experience working with adults across diverse backgrounds and clinical settings. I offer individual, couples, and group therapy, specializing in traumatic bereavement, relational ruptures, and grief. As a Somatic Experiencing Practitioner, I use an integrative, somatic approach to help clients process and integrate the psychological, emotional, relational, and physiological impact of sudden, violent, complicated, and other traumatic losses.
Grounded in a biopsychosocial framework, my work is informed by training in EMDR, CBT, DBT, IFS, CRM, Complicated Grief Therapy (CGT), Somatic Touch, DARe, mindfulness, and psychedelic-assisted therapy.
In addition to clinical practice, I am an educator, grief activist, workshop facilitator, and speaker on traumatic grief, traumatic stress, somatic approaches to healing, and the complexities of loss. I also provide individual and group supervision for clinicians seeking to deepen their trauma-informed practice.
I offer both in-person and telehealth consultation and write about traumatic grief, loss, resilience, and what can be gained through grief in my bilingual publication, What’s Gained / Lo Que Se Gana, on Substack.
