Master Amill began training in Taekwondo Jidokwan at the local YMCA in 1974 at the tender age of 15 under the instruction of Grand Master Danny Ortíz of the Puerto Rico Karate Institute, who in turn was under the tutelage of renowned Grand Master Sihak Henry Cho and continued training until 1978 when he enlisted in the U.S. Army.

While on active duty for over 20 years, he moved from one duty assignment to another and therefore one martial arts school to another. During this time, he studied several different styles under several different instructors. He has a strong competition background, competing in many local, State, National and International competitions.

In March 2001 wanting to seek new challenges and to also broaden his knowledge, he began training in the traditional Korean art of Tang Soo Do under Grand Master Darryl D. Khalid, International Master and founder of the Universal Tang Soo Do Alliance.

In Sept 2002 he founded Choson Martial Arts and continues to study, teach, and practice under the tutelage of Grand Master Khalid today. He is a very active participant in the Alliance endeavors, as the regional representative for the Alliance in Sierra Vista and Cochise County also, as the Liaison between our members in Mexico under Master José Angel Nieves and Grand Master Khalid.

In June 2007, Master Amill was inducted into the Latin-American Martial Arts Hall of Fame held in Puerto Rico.
