Raffe Gold

Sydney, Australia

Raffe Gold is a fan of everything social, to the detriment of everything else in his life.

Born in Australia he first began to experiment with social media and Internet culture through chatrooms and LiveJournal. As the technology progressed and social networks began to take shape he expanded to Twitter, Facebook, Google+ and everything else under the sun (not that he saw much sun being confined to the basement in his parent's house, which he only left to find food).

Once he completed his secondary and tertiary education, earning a Bachelor of Arts, he decided to travel the world. He was a delegate in Washington, Mexico and other grand locations, but he only, really, truly got to know one country. Settling in Israel for almost two years he worked for a number of Tel Aviv based hi-tech start-ups managing their entire social media presence and online communities. He also lectured to non-profit organisations about how they can improve their social media presence in order to help raise money and bring attention to their causes.

Returning to Australia in order to further his education to write a Masters thesis on the impact of social media, he began Transcending Social Media, a company with a head for business and a heart for causes. With clients such as the United Israel Appeal and Start Right Speech, Transcending Social Media, known throughout the world as TSM for short, has started to expand rapidly and Raffe is bringing his unique knowledge and insight of social media that he learnt from his time overseas to the people and companies of Australia.

He has also recently written an e-Book about the role that social media has played in wars, revolutions and activism for Penguin Australia which will be published mid to late 2013
