Rafiq Husseini

Deputy Secretary General of the Secretariat of the Union for the Mediterranean in Barcelona Rafiq Husseini has utilized his comprehensive education and work experience to extend his knowledge to others. A lecturer, Mr. Husseini shared “Crisis Resolution, Conflict Prevention and Promotion of Human Development: The Priorities of a Continent?” with the Amadeus Institute MEDays Conference in Tangier, Morocco, in 2009. He also presented “Development at Times of Crisis: Role of the Welfare Association in Palestine” at the SANABEL Conference in Abu Dhabi in 2004. Rafiq Husseini’s other presentations include, “Palestinian Health Care System: Between the Devil and the Deep Blue Sea,” “Managed Care Opportunities in Palestine,” “Role of the Private Sector in the Provision of Health Care in Palestine,” and “The Palestinian Health Plan: Visions, Dreams, Hopes, Nightmares,” to name just a few. Similarly, Rafiq Husseini has contributed to a number of publications to further health services and cultural concerns. In 2002, he wrote “The Introduction of Palestinian National Thinking Regarding Health Care” and “Financing the Health Care System in Palestine: Rationalize or Bust.” Mr. Husseini co-edited Separate and Cooperate, Cooperate and Separate: The Disengagement of the Palestinian Health Care System from Israel and its Emergence as an Independent System and wrote Medical Laboratory Services in the Occupied Palestinian Territories: Reference Laboratory Tests Manual. Additionally, Rafiq Husseini wrote “Beyond Anapolis: A Palestinian View” in 2007, “Appraisal of Post-Graduate Teaching Programs in Public Health at Palestinian Universities” in 2000, and “Why an Academy for Science and Technology in Palestine?” in 1999.
