Like most Canadian kids, I grew up wanting to lace my skates in the NHL. But after being on the receiving end of my first bodycheck, I put that dream on hold and went back to being a long time listener, first time caller kind of fan.

After earning my undergraduate degree in psychology, I was left uncertain about what I wanted next. Every avenue I explored would end the same, "Like it, don't love it." So I continued to work odd jobs until I caught a break and landed a part-time job as a shotlister for Hockey Night in Canada. It didn't take long before I was working inside the infamous Studio 42, within earshot of on-air broadcasters reporting facts and telling stories, captivating audiences with their every word. It was there, I knew this was going to be my future.

Now a broadcast journalism graduate and after completing an internship with CTV News Toronto, I am currently a Sports & News Reporter for CJDC-TV News in Fort St. John, BC. Don't let the youthful smile fool you, I'm aware of the competitive nature of this industry but know that while opportunities may not come by easily, hard work creates opportunities for the right people.
