Capturing the moment is my obsession. The objective of photographic projects may differ slightly from project to project, but ultimately any photograph is measured by whether it moves the viewer. Emotion, action, color, texture, lighting and composition are all things that factor into capturing that moment that moves. I have spent my entire life honing my photgraphic eye and expanding and refining the technical expertise necessary to deliver that moment - that instant of truth - or that collection of images and moments that tell the story of what clients want to remember. At six years of age I was dubbed the family photographer. With a Kodak Instamatic I quickly found approval of my vision. In those analog days and having the bank roll of a six year old I learned to be intentional and efficient in my efforts. By high school I had graduated to my first Pentax SLR and immersed myself in the technology of picture taking - manipulating exposure and becoming fascinated by motion and both the geometrical and asymmetical possibilities of photography. In college, I further fine-tuned my understanding of color, texture and lighting and how to work with models, winning one of the five jury awards given in the campus wide art contest. And with the arrival of the digital age I've discovered a whole new set of techological frontiers. I remain a purist though. I respect and enjoy digitally manipulated images as an artform in and of itsel and collaborate with many of those artists when the client has that need. However, my practice and philosophy is simple. I work hard to put myself in position to get the most moving images possible. I get to know my clients or subject, so that I can let the world see with a click, who they are. I welcome the opportunity to caputre your moments and to help you find your truth!
