Raja Dey

Raja started as a freelance cinematographer and documentary filmmaker based in Kolkata, India. As a cameraman his experience ranges beyond documentaries and into narrative fiction, corporate video, commercials, and music videos. Raja has been faculty member and course coordinator at Chitrabani from 2002 to 2006 the social communications centre founded by Fr. Gaston Roberge, eminent film scholar and by Mr. Satyajit Ray, world-renowned filmmaker. Raja also, worked as Cinematographer and Producer with Francisco Bello, for the 2008 Academy nominated & 2009 Emmy nominated short Film Salim Baba, Directed by Tim Sternberg. In 2006, Raja made his directing debut with a docudrama on the subject of female infanticide in rural India the Film named as "Tamanna -The Desire” and promotional films for an renowned NGO. In 2008 – 09 Raja completed three documentary shorts namely GoldRush – The Neharawalas, which received Jury Mention at Sedicicorto, Italy, and has been selected for many renowned film festivals, like DOCSDF – Mexico, UNAFF – Stanford, & Tiburon Film festival.
