Raj Kisku
Photographer in Dhaka, Bangladesh
My name is Rapaz Jagadish Kisku. I was born in the village called Tanore in Rajshahi. My father is a retired Government official, mother, a housewife. From childhood I saw my father interested in Arts and culture, him and I attended events and programs. He owned a Jatra group. The group used to perform during festivals. From there, my interest in the subject grew. In my childhood I saw 35mm and mid format films at home. Due to lack of reservation they were lost. I have a habit of collecting films. I moved to Rajshahi city when I was in grade six. During my school and college years I associated with many culture and literature groups. I took lessons in playing Tabla for three years. I was also involved in street drama groups. Later on I moved to Dhaka to work in mainstream media. I worked as a video editor for one year. The place I worked in, I met a senior friend who was very good in photography. He had a collection of photo magazines. From there I fell in love with photography. I got admitted in Pathshala (South Asian Media Institute). I completed basic and foundation course in photography in 2009, after that I worked in Movies, Drama and commercials behind the scenes. I worked for three years, and then I took a break. My interest evolved into photography again. My mother helped me a lot in pursuing photography as a career. I want to do something good with photography. The future will tell everything.
