Marija Rajkovic

Artist, Teacher, and Designer in Nis Serbia

Marija Rajković was born in Niš on June 6, 1971. At the age of five, she began studying violin at the School for Musical Talents in Ćuprija in the class of Prof. Dragoljub Jovanović. She graduated in Niš in the class of Prof. Branislava Petrović Marković. At the age of sixteen, she enrolled in elementary studies at the Faculty of Music in Belgrade in the class of Prof. Jovan Kolundžija and completed her master's degree in the class of Prof. Dejan Mihailović. She has received several awards and recognitions for her soloist activities from the city of Niš, as well as scholarships from the Tito Fund, the Republic Scholarship, etc. She performed for the first time as a soloist with a symphony orchestra at the age of eleven. As a soloist, she has collaborated with many conductors: Sandra Zaninović – Croatia, Vančo Čavdarski – Macedonia, Svilen Simeonov – Bulgaria, Vesna Showc – Serbia, Stevan Spalević – Serbia, Nikolas Riziotis – Greece, Claudio Skarbotini – Italy, Milena Injac – Serbia, Đurđica Dašić – RS Macedonia, Igor Tatarević – Croatia. Since 2009, she has been performing in a duet with Jovan Bogosavljević, one of the leading violinists in Serbia. The period of this collaboration was marked by solo performances with chamber orchestras at significant domestic and European festivals: Ledamus, Nimus, Strings-Serbia, Days of Baroque, Bosnian Evenings- Bosnia and Herzegovina, Ohrid Summer, Skopje Summer- RS Macedonia, Oltre il velo di Maya, Strumenti&Musica- Italy... In 2015, she performed at the international Nimus-Niš festival as a member of the Serbian String Quartet, performing both Borodin quartets with the following members: Jovan Bogosavljević – violin, Marija Rajković – violin, Panta Velicković – viola and Dragan Đorđević Suzuki – cello. She performed with pianists: Nada Kecman, Jovanka Aranđelović, Srboljub Dinić, Sonja Radojković, Ljubinka Kostović, Stevan Spalević, Đorđe Milojković, Istra Pecvari, Bojan Mladenović... As an orchestral musician, she had a brief experience in 1993/94 as deputy concertmaster of the National Orchestra of RT3 Greece. Marija Rajković studied with Ana Chumachenko, Dani Dosi... She is one of the founders of the "International Collegium of Artists Strad", based in Niš, and the "IKUS Studio Orchestra". In 2025, in a duet with violinist Jovan Bogosavljević and under the conductorship of Maestro Milena Injac, she recorded a concerto and a three-movement concert fantasy for two violins entitled "Diptych and Argentine Fantasy." These two concert works by Jovan Bogosavljević were recorded as part of a national project organized and co-financed by SOKOJ. Jovan Bogosavljević's Argentine Fantasy was written for one of the largest festivals in Europe - Ohrid Summer in Ohrid - Republic of Macedonia, where it was premiered in 2023 accompanied by the chamber orchestra Concertante under the conductorship of Maestro Milena Injac. Marija Rajković has been engaged in pedagogical work since 2003 and as a teacher has been awarded for "solo and concert activities of students on the domestic and international stage with chamber and symphony orchestras".As a teacher, she has held numerous masterclasses at domestic and foreign universities and international festivals. She published the editorial "Small Concerts" in 2019. She is full professor at the Faculty of Arts, University of Niš, major subject Violin.
