Dr. Rakesh Chandra Gangwar is a distinguished academician, researcher, and administrator with more than three decades of experience in higher education. Presently serving as the Principal of Golden College of Engineering and Technology (GCET), Gurdaspur, Punjab, he has made significant contributions to engineering education, research, accreditation, curriculum development, and academic leadership.
Dr. Gangwar earned his Ph.D. in Cyber Security from the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Roorkee in 2009. He also holds an M.S. in Software Systems from BITS Pilani and a B.Tech. in Computer Engineering from G.B. Pant University of Agriculture and Technology, Pantnagar. His strong academic foundation, combined with extensive teaching and research experience, has enabled him to establish himself as a respected figure in the field of Computer Science and Engineering.
Throughout his career, Dr. Gangwar has served in various academic and administrative positions, including Professor, Head of Department, Dean, and Principal. Prior to joining GCET, he served as Professor in the Department of Computer Science and Engineering at Sardar Beant Singh State University (SBSSU), Gurdaspur. His leadership has consistently focused on enhancing academic quality, promoting research excellence, strengthening industry-academia collaboration, and fostering innovation among students and faculty members.
His research interests encompass Cyber Security, Mobile Ad Hoc Networks (MANETs), Cloud Computing, Edge and Fog Computing, Operating Systems, and Database Management Systems. His doctoral research, titled “On Secure Group Key Agreement Protocols for Mobile Ad Hoc Networks,” contributed significantly to the advancement of secure communication protocols in dynamic network environments. Over the years, he has published numerous research papers in reputed national and international journals and conferences, contributing to the growing body of knowledge in computer science and information security.
Dr. Gangwar has successfully guided multiple doctoral scholars and supervised numerous postgraduate dissertations in emerging areas of computing and artificial intelligence. His recent research engagements include deep learning-based disease detection, cybersecurity frameworks, intelligent systems, and machine learning applications in healthcare and agriculture. He has played an active role in promoting interdisciplinary research and encouraging innovation-driven projects among students.
An accomplished academic planner, Dr. Gangwar has contributed extensively to curriculum design and development. As Chairman and member of various Boards of Studies, he has been instrumental in designing and revising undergraduate and postgraduate syllabi in Computer Science and Engineering. His efforts have ensured that academic programs remain aligned with evolving technological trends and industry requirements.
Dr. Gangwar's commitment to quality assurance and institutional excellence is reflected in his contributions to accreditation initiatives. He has played a key role in achieving NBA and NAAC accreditations and has actively participated in academic governance, policy formulation, and strategic planning.
