Rami Beracha
General Partner at Eden Block in New York, NY
Rami Beracha is an Israeli venture capitalist general partner at Eden Block, a London-based investment firm specializing in foundational infrastructure for the new Open Internet. Born in Tel Aviv in 1961, he enlisted in the Israeli Defense Forces in 1980 and served in the Paratroopers Brigade, Battalion 890. During the first Lebanon War, he fought in the eastern sector as part of an infantry cadet battalion. After the war, he completed his combat officers’ course with the highest distinction, ranking first among 250 special forces cadets, and returned to his unit as a platoon commander in August 1982.
In 1983, while stationed in the Ein Zhalta area in the Shouf Mountains of Lebanon, he was involved in an operational mission under the command of his battalion leader. During the operation, a force led by a second lieutenant entered a wild minefield where three soldiers were wounded by mines they stepped on. He was sent as part of a rescue team and stepped on a mine himself, which resulted in the loss of his right hand and left foot, along with severe injury to his left hand.
Following a lengthy rehabilitation, he returned to active reserve service in an elite unit and continues to serve in the reserves. During the recent ongoing conflict, he was on active reserve duty for 450 days with the Elite 98 Brigade.
Rami Beracha began his professional career as an attorney at a major Wall Street law firm, focusing on restructuring and securities for four years. He then spent 18 years as a managing partner at Pitango Venture Capital Fund, Israel’s largest venture capital firm, with over $2.5 billion under management, 90 mergers and acquisitions, and 25 IPOs. He focused on deep-tech Web 2 investments and held board positions in several startups later acquired by Apple, Cisco, Marvel, Microsoft, Oracle, and others. He has more than 20 successful exits and has been recognized multiple times among Israel’s top five venture capital partners. In 2011, he was named "Most Respected Partner" in an annual survey of Israeli startup entrepreneurs and managers.
In 2018, he joined Eden Block, a global venture capital fund dedicated to blockchain technologies and the decentralized digital economy. His broad experience guiding startups through funding, product development, market strategy, and exit negotiations has been valuable to the firm and its portfolio companies. He also co-founded an open innovation company based in Tel Aviv.
