Ramita Ravi
Philadelphia Pa.
Hi! My name is Ramita Ravi and I am currently enrolled in the class of 2017 at the University of Pennsylvania. Although I have not yet declared a major, I plan to study Health and Societies with minors in Urban Education Policy and Consumer Psychology. These subjects might seem unrelated, but my goal is to gain exposure to some of the world's most troubling issues (lack of sustainable health services, improving special needs education, etc) in order tackle them with innovative and creative solutions. What's better than inspiring innovation by doing something you love? For me, that something is dance. I have been dancing for 14 years in styles ranging from ballet, jazz, tap, and contemporary to Bollywood and Classical Indian Dance. I love fusing Indian American dance styles and have been working to create a unique fusion style of my own. Feel free to check out my Youtube Channel to see my work. I would love to seek out opportunities to dance, choreograph, and collaborate, so please contact me and we can create together! I love combining my academic and philanthropic passions with my love for dance. In the past, I created a campaign titled "Dancing for the Missing Piece" to raise awareness for autism through dance. Check out and share my awareness video featured above--a dance that I choreographed to bring the autism experience to life. I am eager to pursue similar projects as well as apply dance to other contexts such as dance therapy, global dance research, and dance medicine in science. I am an academic, dancer, and collaborator. Reach out to me and let's create something awesome together!
