Ramon Ysaac Andaya

Student and Musician in Quezon City, Philippines

Hi, my name is Ramon Ysaac M. Andaya, and I am a musician, specifically a guitarist.

I am currently a music student in the Conservatory of Music at the University of Santo Tomas. I am also a freelancer both providing music transcription services for the guitar, and as a classical guitar teacher. I am also the guitarist for the band Sean Archer, as it is also as a way to expose myself towards my preferred band genres aside from classical music.

Before learning the instrument, I already had an interest towards music when I was young, and singing was my favorite thing to do. Learning to play the guitar came when I was 10 years old, but I was also quick to get bored of it at the time; then I came back to it when I was 13 thanks to my classmates before who always brought their guitars to jam while there are no classes yet. My parents approve and appreciate my passion for the guitar, from searching guitar lessons on YouTube, to actually getting formal one-on-one guitar lessons both electric and classical guitar.

Ever since I had my first guitar recital when I was 15 years old, I knew that musical performance was going to be a part of who I am, and from a few private performances to public bar gigs, expressing myself through playing the guitar is one of the most important things in my life. I also came to a realization that helping myself to learn more about the instrument was not enough, and that I had to share my knowledge to others about what and how I learned from the guitar, and that is when I had grown to wanting to become a teacher for the guitar, specifically a classical guitar, in order to help those who want to learn the guitar fundamentally. From my personal learning experience, learning classical music on the guitar is important to learn when it comes to knowing the principles and fundamental aspects, as they can be applied to other genres not just about guitar playing, but songs that can be created in general, and that is why as I teach, it is teaching the basics of discipline in learning the instrument.

This is what I can do, and what I will continue for my passion, and the passion of others in music.
