Mahlatse Ramothwala was born and raised in a rural settlement known as Makgakgapatse village in Limpopo province.
He did his primary education at Phakeng Primary and completed his matric at Makhaka Senior secondary school. He completed his studies at University of Johannesburg (Bachelor of Education and Honours in Science Education).
According to Mahlatse, to be an Educator is not about standing in front of the learners preaching the CAPS content, indoctrinating and assessing learners, is about mediating the content, making it meaningful to the recipients, stimulating their interest for future learning.
He likes to associate with people who are goal oriented and want to achieve in life and he is a good motivational speaker.
He is the Founder of Bokamoso Academic Initiative, a youth organisation that functions in Limpopo. He spend most of his free time playing chess.
