Ramzi Khazen

Attorney Ramzi Khazen earned a BS in electrical and computer engineering from the University of Texas at Austin. While completing his undergraduate studies, he worked as an engineering assistant for Systems & Processes Engineering Corporation. There, Ramzi Khazen tested electronic components, helped produce schematic designs, and wrote funding proposals for a digital motion recorder. He then received a JD from The University of Texas School of Law, where he contributed to the Intellectual Property Law Journal and served as secretary of the Intellectual Property Law Society.
Following law school, Mr. Khazen began his career as an associate attorney for Dewey Ballantine LLP. Among the many patent litigation and licensing cases he successfully handled, he defended a client before the International Trade Commission from trial through review on appeal to win a favorable settlement in a highly valued patent case.
Practicing with McKool Smith PC since 2008, Ramzi Khazen currently serves as principal in the firm’s Austin, Texas office. He provides representation for clients involved in patent litigation before the US district courts and the International Trade commission, with a concentration on disputes concerning medical device, computer, wireless and processing technologies. Recently, he helped a client obtain denial of inter partes review for four patents asserted against a major enterprise mobile management company in district court.
Beyond his legal practice, Mr. Khazen volunteers at Austin Pets Alive!, a local animal rescue organization that operates programs to save animals that would otherwise be euthanized at the municipal shelter.
