I found my passion at 12, when I found drums. Of all the instruments I’d tried, only the drums made me feel like a musician. Playing was an outlet for my hyperactive soul.

Despite being so young that I could barely see over my drum kit, I learned from some of Turkey’s respected musicians like Engin Gurkey (Latin and Middle-Eastern) and Nilufer Verdi (Jazz). They did more than just teach me, they made me a part of their community.

Making music has made me grow. The more I discover my sense of rhythm, the more I discover myself . Today, at 18, I am recording my first album with Palmiyeler, to be released at the end of 2014.
