In-house Tech Legal Counsel in Salt Lake City, Utah
Randy Wood currently works as VP, Associate General Counsel for Cricut, the global leader in the connected DIY technology space.
Randy received his B.S. in Economics, his B.S. in International Studies, and his B.A. in German from the University of Utah, cum laude. He later attended the George Washington University Law School, where he was a Thurgood Marshall Scholar and graduated with his Juris Doctor, with Honors.
Before law school, Randy worked for a number of years in Utah’s real estate industry, working for a commercial real estate appraiser, a real estate capital group, and later as a licensed real estate agent and project manager for Utah's biggest residential homebuilder.
During law school, Randy served as Articles Editor of the George Washington International Law Review, Editor-in-Chief of The Nota Bene (GW Law School Newspaper), and as a Dean’s Fellow for the Legal Research & Writing Program. During his summers off from law school, he served as a Judicial Intern for the United States Court of Federal Claims and as a Summer Associate at Parr Brown Gee & Loveless, PC.
After law school, Randy joined the law firm Parr Brown Gee & Loveless, PC, in Salt Lake City, Utah. While in private practice there, he worked as an Associate Attorney focusing on a variety of large corporate transactions, corporate financing and lending issues, and real estate and construction matters. During his practice, Pluralsight (his firm client) approached him to begin practicing in-house for the company to become the second legal hire (starting only two months after the first). He helped build the Pluralsight legal team from scratch from its infancy to a large team of twelve people that assisted in Pluralsight's IPO process to help the company become a NASDAQ-listed public company (PS).
After three years at Pluralsight, Randy left to join the legal team at Cricut where Randy works today. Randy runs a legal team assisting with international growth, product launches, contract lifecycle, cybersecurity, data privacy, and supply- and distributor-chain logistics.
Randy and his wife Annalee live in Kaysville, Utah with their son and two daughters. Randy has become an avid Cricut fan, trying his hand as regular DIY/Maker (check out his Instagram @dadcanmakeit). Randy also enjoys running, hiking, camping, and playing the piano. He freelances as a website and graphic designer from time to time and enjoys serving as the family and neighborhood go-to tech guru.
