She has been honored by the Women in the World Foundation as 1 of 6 Super Charities Started by College Students & 1 of 10 most inspiring student activists. Ms. Houston is also an active philanthropist through the self-named Randryia L. Houston endowment at the University of Houston Library & serving as a board member for Her Haven, a transitional living facility for young single mothers.

Randryia L. Houston is Founder & CEO of The Pencil Project, a nonprofit 501 (c) 3 organization that seeks to alleviate educational disparities in Ghana, West Africa, by providing schoolchildren with the educational tools and resources they need to succeed. During her tenure, The Pencil Project has donated over 200,000 pencils to primary and secondary school students globally.

Ms. Houston is a Licensed Master Social Worker (LMSW) and Certified Christian Counselor with a Masters of Social Work from the University of Houston & a bachelor’s degree in Sociology with a minor in Corporate Communications. She holds a Nonprofit Management and Leadership certificate from the Nonprofit Leadership Alliance, a graduate certification in African American Studies, and is currently pursuing a Nonprofit Management Certificate with a specialization in International Nongovernmental Orgs from Texas A & M University.
