Is there really a difference?
The article: Social classmakes a difference in how children tackle classroom problems is about the social classes one is raised up in, and weather that affects a child’s action as well as their conduct out in the real world. Individuals may have different views and a way of reacting to specific situations because of being placed in and grown up in different settings also known as environments, their practices (culture), various agencies, as well as power and authority. As stated by Jessica McCrory Calarco, a child’s way of dealing with obstacles within the classroom’s surrounding is influenced by their parent’s beliefs which have been engraved into their children.
The article written by Indiana University has written that “Middle-class parents inform their children to reach out to the teacher and ask questions. Working-class parents see asking for help as disrespectful to teachers, so they teach their children to work out problems themselves." A way to prove this statement is using research methodologies, specifically through quantitative research methods, such as questioners with questions relating to social class, surveys could be asked by the public and one could pinpoint the majority of views towards the social classes and a qualitative methodology that could be used includes interviews, one could interview people they know or strangers based on their views towards the middle class, they could gather up all the information received and write an article based on the majority of views.
Coming from an Iraqi background, as a refugee, my family came with literally nothing but a few bucks in their pocket that was supposedly meant to provide and feed three kids as well as themselves. After staying in a detention center for nine months my parents learnt to live the hard way by trying to grasp any jobs they can get a hold of as well as learning a new language and adapting to new changes. My family started as low-income earners which taught me and my siblings to work for what you want and that the world does not lend you tangible objects for free. Growing up with that concept and the beliefs my family has constructed, we learned to appreciate the poor and not forget them as we slowly climbed up the social ladder.
The beliefs we consolidated, like giving charity to the poor, helping one when in need also plays a part in our customs and values. Muslims also share the same beliefs, with Middle East being deprived country many have experienced what it is like to not earn much and don’t tend to look down upon such families or individuals because of understanding what it is like to live under those conditions.
They also have to give money at least once in their life according to their practices and this gives the less fortunate a chance to earn what they can from their own people. The viewpoints depend on one belief, the way they have been brought up and their experiences in life. Chinese followers believe a middle-class family or individuals would have all the right competitive tools required and according to Tom Doctoroff, being placed with the middle class ‘transforms and improves physical wellbeing. He states that they believe that being in the middle class is more than just living comfortably, it is about engaging with society to get recognition for their (financial) successes.
They also believe it's about being on the right journey, they see theirs as an arduous, perilous, continuous struggle upwards and there is an acute awareness of the precarious and unpredictable slipperiness of this journey, that all could be lost and taken away in the bat of an eyelid”. As time moves forward, so do we, and unfortunately even though this topic has existed for hundreds of years, we still have not got rid of it today. Social class still exists in this world and will take time to extinguish. As the time moves forward, so does society, this answer is still assumed by many groups.
The views towards lower and middle class participants have dramatically changed, views towards middle class is that they set examples of what is ‘acceptable’ and ‘normal’ according to the class action website. Views towards the lower class prove to be looked down upon by some groups in society as well as gained empathy and sympathy by others, there is a mix of views which individuals keep switching to.
Overall, social class does affect their child’s way of reacting and dealing to specific situations. One’s belief and practices could affect their decision and could affect the way they might treat the people around them or it can just be because of society’s change of views towards social class. The point is, ones choice of conduct does not come from their own head but is influenced from the environment they grow up in, the globalizations that exists in their time, their culture, community and society.
