The IEC registration(Import Export Code) certificate is issued by the Directorate General of Foreign Trade (DGFT), which operates under the Ministry of Commerce and Industry, Government of India. The DGFT is the regulatory body responsible for facilitating and promoting international trade in India.

To obtain an IEC certificate, applicants need to submit an online application via the official DGFT portal, along with the required documents such as PAN card, address proof, and bank details. Upon successful submission and verification, the DGFT issues the IEC electronically.

Once issued, the IEC code is a unique 10-digit code and is required for any business or individual engaging in import or export activities in India. The code is valid for a lifetime, and no renewal is needed. The DGFT ensures a streamlined, efficient process to promote ease of doing business for traders involved in cross-border transactions.
