Hi everyone! I am Raquel, and I would like to briefly introduce myself here. I am studying in León to become an English teacher, so I am very interested in what is going to happen during this exchange. Although I am from Barcelona, I have spent the last four years here in León studying my degree in English Philology, which has been a great experience. During the degree I had the chance to be an Erasmus student in Prague, and that is probably the best choice I could have made. I was an open minded person before the Erasmus, but it taught me so much about people and other ways of living and I also learned how to consider differences as something positive and valuable.

I come from a big family in which good taste in books, music and cinema is always something to argue about. We also like to dive in the sea and climb the closest mountain, Montserrat (do not miss that if you ever visit Barcelona) when we have a spare weekend.

My online habits are basically related to communicate with my friends and family, but I am not a big fan of social networks. I find them useful, as well as other online tools, when it comes to work in groups so I am up to use the whenever it is necessary. Working in groups can seem a difficult task when you don't know your partners in the team, so being able to use these kind of resources can make it way easier.

About my previous experiences in foreign language teaching, I have to admit that it hasn't always been successful. I started volunteering for an NGO in Barcelona, helping foreign kids to learn Spanish. The experience was amazing, so I also decided to teach English in particular classes here in León. The only difficult situation I've ever found to this respect was trying to teach Spanish to a Czech man that didn't speak English at all. As you can imagine, I don't speak Czech so we spent most of the time communicating through gestures and pointing things with our hands. Although not really successful, the experience was still rewarding.

This is all for now, looking forward to start working with you! Best wishes,

Raquel
