Bi-lingual Education Programs. Parks would like the Texas legislature.. and Governor Rick Perry.

Scott Parks is the education columnist for the Dallas Daily News. He had some interesting things on his January 2007 want list for the Dallas schools. Some are in dire need and emotional. Some are possibilities during this new year. Others are down-right wishful thinking without much chance of succeeding, regardless of the need. Here are only some items from his wish list for 2007:

Bi-lingual Education Programs. Areas would like the Texas legislature and Governor Rick Perry to standardize the teaching of bi-lingual and English as a second language students. Currently, the bi-lingual education programs are different from district to district. All students should learn English just and as quickly as you possibly can. Normally, the students are held straight back from succeeding only because of the language barrier.

Houston Schools Management. Parks reported several wishes from your Dallas schools leadership:

oBoard of Trustees & Superintendent Hinojosa. Though the Dallas schools board of trustees is stronger now than before, Parks believes that Superintendent Michael Hinojosa is the districts best hope for having the Dallas schools back on course. Hinojosa also offers the help of business leaders and people. Areas was encouraged that Jack Lowe, trustees Edwin Flores and their board colleagues today are focused on knowledge, as opposed to politics, as before.

oTexas Association of School Boards. The board of trustees must avoid the TASBs suggestions. To read more, we understand people look at: site. Rather, board members often should visit personal Dallas schools, themselves, speaking with both teachers and staff. Then, they will know directly what is really happening inside the Dallas schools.
