Translation is a mysterious alchemy. Some poems survive it to become poems in another language, but others refuse to live in any language but their own. Raul Rivera L. was born and raised in Mexico City, one of the largest metropolitan areas in the Americas and the world. Growing up he visited many of Mexico’s famous public art spaces, filled with works by famous Mexican muralist painters, such as Diego Rivera, David Alfaro Siqueiros and José Clemente Orozco. They created large public murals in places such as the National Palace, the Department of Education, the Autonomous University and the Palace of Fine Arts. Their influence developed Rivera L.’s great vision for art, beauty, creativity and, for him, one of the most important things in life: passion and respect for the community. Rivera L. was educated at the Universidad del Valle de Mexico, where he pursued credits towards a degree in Architecture and took courses in Interior/Exterior Decorating. At the age of 24 he began working with P&O; and Princess Cruises, creating a lifestyle of world travelling. In 2002 he moved to Los Angeles, CA. and did freelance work for different wedding studios in the US.
