Ravit Markus

Top critics and the audiences were falling head over heels for producer Ravit Markus's critically acclaimed documentary Yiddish Theater: A Love Story which became a phenomenon when it commercially played in New York, Los Angeles and Tel Aviv for months and months. It has also been optioned by a Hollywood company to be made into a commercial fiction film. Her last documentary Praying in Her Own Voice is currently successfully touring the festival circuit. A powerful discussion starter it is garnering lots of media attention. Ravit is a graduate of the Film and TV Department at Tel Aviv University in Israel. Her final thesis film was bought and aired on the Israeli Cinema channel. In her mandatory army service in Israel she was selected to a prestigious film unit, where she got lots of hands-on filmmaking experience. After the army she worked with some of Israel’s best producers on a number of projects. Since moving to Los Angeles Ravit has worked on various international co-productions, including a documentary feature shot in NY and a documentary for Channel 4 UK, which was shot in LA and aired on TV stations around the world, including the Sundance Channel, to rave reviews.
