Robert Wilson

Southampton, New York

My name is Robert Wilson and I was born and raised and live in Southampton, NY. I attended high school at Southampton High and was part of the class of 1977. After high school I enter the United States Air Force and trained as an EOD (Explosive Ordnance Disposal) Specialist. I was assigned to a Special Operation Team as their embedded EOD Specialist. I was deployed with the team from the Middle East to South America. With assignment that ranged from protecting the in prisoned members of the US Embassy, protecting the President of the United States from IED’s to destroying drug labs, to assisting local Police Departments with suspected bombing. It was my plan to spend my life in the Air Force untitled 10 December 1980 when I was disarming an RPG and it exploded. I was pronounced dead but a Woman Navy coreman refused to let me die and she revived me. I just meet her 32 years later through a program run by the VA. She is currently a Doctor/Rear Armorial in the United States Navy saving the lives of all of our service people. It was a great experience and lifted a self-imposed burden of thanking the woman who saved my life.

When I was Medically Retired from the Air Force I return home and attended the University of New Haven and earned BS in Sports Management and an MS in Finance. Since my graduation I have spent most of my time being treat for my injuries at the VA and working in finance. In 2008 I was informed that I had leukemia, a form known as MDS that came from exposer to Agent Orange during my EOD training. For the last year the Doctors felt they had it under control but it has return and I am currently taking treatments to place it in remission.

My hobbies are reading action novels, NASCAR, and Football, Go Giants.
