Attorney Rawsi Williams, Esq., R.N., is a Florida-based civil rights attorney, registered nurse, and United States Army veteran. She is among the few professionals licensed in both nursing and law, with a career focus on protecting civil and constitutional rights. Her practice encompasses cases in federal, state, and administrative courts, covering a range of areas including civil rights, education, employment, healthcare, and government accountability. She earned national recognition by securing a unanimous $2 million jury verdict in a federal excessive force case, the highest pure police brutality verdict in that court system. She is also one of only four attorneys in four decades to successfully defeat the Florida High School Athletic Association on behalf of a student-athlete.

Rawsi grew up as one of five children, with four daughters and one son. Her decision to pursue law was shaped by her brother’s incarceration, which drove her to fight for those who are silenced or mistreated. That resolve became even stronger when he was later a victim of police brutality in Texas. He was repeatedly tased inside an ambulance after suffering a seizure, and a Judge ruled that the officers lacked probable cause for his arrest after dragging him out. She secured him an attorney licensed in Texas, which led to a federal lawsuit being filed against the officers.

Before her legal career, Rawsi served in the United States Army and began her professional journey in nursing. She studied at Tuskegee University, where she made history as the first female Ranger in the Army ROTC program. She later earned her Juris Doctor degree from Florida A&M University College of Law and received military training in medical records. Alongside her practice, she has achieved multiple certifications and is often invited to speak at national events.

Rawsi is licensed to practice in all Florida state courts and in several federal jurisdictions, with additional admissions pro hac vice in Texas and Georgia. Her background in nursing allows her to represent healthcare professionals in licensure disputes, while her legal practice spans civil rights, constitutional matters, and administrative defense.

Her commitment to service extends beyond the courtroom, as she has volunteered for over a decade with the Miami-Dade County Public Defender’s Office, maintaining an undefeated record while representing indigent clients pro bono. Through her work and dedication, Attorney Rawsi Williams continues to stand as a strong advocate for justice and equality.
