Raylin Medina
Raylin Medina is a choreographer and dancer that is currently enrolled as a senior in the Dean College Joan Phelps Palladino School of Dance. She will be earning her Bachelor’s Degree in Dance and her Associate’s Degree in Early Childhood Education. While at Dean Raylin has studied Ballet, Tap Jazz, Hip Hop, Horton, Graham, and Release Technique. She was choreographed for the school’s shows in the past such as Celebrity Cabaret (2013), Arts Mosaic (2014), Freshman Development (2014), and Choreographers Concert (2015). She recently had the chance to work closely with Madia Cooper on a West African piece that will be performed at Dean College’s annual Company show in April and May 2016.
Raylin has also worked with Dance Ovations National Dance Competition. Since she won the title of National Miss Dance Ovations in 2012 she has been teaching at their National Competition (contemporary and musical theatre), performing at their Gala show, working with their adjudicators, and helping with the behind the scenes work. Raylin has also worked for her mother’s dance studio, Kathy Medina’s Studio of Dance, since she was 15. She trained with her mother for years and then was able to assist and train other young dancers. Raylin now works with dancers ages 2-18 and choreographs works for their annual concert and the competitions they attend each year. Raylin hopes to go on to receive her Master’s Degree in Choreography and eventually be teaching modern dance or dance composition at the collegiate level.
