Indigené Cellars is a small family business located in the upper Carmel Valley of Monterey County, solely operated and owned by Raymond Smith. Indigené wines are carefully hand crafted from some of the most prestigious and sought after vineyards in California.

This attention to detail is paired with a premium 40 acre estate program that produces award winning Cabernets and Bordeaux varietals.

Raymond has a reputation of crafting wines that are deeply expressive of their individual terroir. Converted from a Mechanical background, Raymond developed a passion for wine in the late 80s. Starting a small business in wine packaging, he developed relationships with some of the most influential and innovative winemakers from Napa Valley to Santa Barbara. He developed his talent for creating everything from elegant fruit forward blends, to voluptuous noteworthy reds.

Raymond learned early on that different varietals thrive in different climates and that inspired his concept and the brand Indigené

(In-Di-Je-Nay) this translates from the French verb “The Search for Native”. Raymond is a

continuous student of wine production and has created an exceptional list of products that

are reflections of his own diversity.
