I'm an independent mining analyst, author and media commentator with extensive industry experience, including more than 20 years as a mining analyst and industry economist covering non-precious and precious metals and fertilizer companies. I'm currently a Director of Nuinsco Resources Ltd. and Equitas Resources Corp., and have worked for several investment dealers, including Richardson Greenshields for sixteen years. I often appear on national television and makes keynote addresses to mining conferences.

I hold a B.Sc. in Geology from Victoria University in Wellington, New Zealand, an M.Sc. in Geology from McGill University, and a Ph.D. from Queen's University. The topic of my Ph.D. thesis was the geology of the Flavrian and Powell Plutons, a suite of Archean rocks in northwestern Quebec. The identification of these plutons as feeders for the volcanoes and heat engines for the mineral deposits of the Noranda district has been supported by several decades of subsequent scientific studies.

I also hold a Diploma in Business Administration from the University of Toronto. In 2000, my research on mineral economics resulted in my trademarking of the term “pinch-point” a term that refers to a critical level of the inventory of a particular commodity. In 2005, as result of my work on the relationships between the mining industry and key communities has been the publication of my book “Inco comes to Labrador” by Flanker Press of St. John’s, Newfoundland.
