Raihan Sayeed

Raihan Sayeed commenced his college education in the fall of 2010 at Loyola University Chicago in Illinois, and he currently majors in both pre-med and business. Loyola, the nation’s largest Jesuit Catholic university, is a private institution founded in 1870. It has been ranked by U.S. News and World Reports among the top national universities and was named a best value in the publication’s 2010 rankings. Raihan Sayeed’s history of volunteer work makes him the perfect candidate at Loyola, where community service is heavily emphasized; the university partners with organizations like The Carnegie Foundation for the Advancement of Teaching and the Corporation for National and Community Service. In September 2010, he shadowed Dr. Zeba Shakir at her clinic in Homewood, Illinois. And in January 2011, he shadowed Dr. Prem Rupani in his medical center in Chicago. Raihan Sayeed attended the Illinois Medical School Admissions Seminar at Illinois State University and the Health Systems Management Presentation at Rush University Medical Center in October 2010. In November of the same year, he earned the title of Senator in Loyola University’s Unified Student Government Association (USGA). In preparation for his pre-med work at Loyola, Raihan Sayeed accumulated 640 hours of medical-related volunteer service from 2006 to 2009. He worked at St. James Hospital and Health Centers in Chicago as a greeter at the front desk; there, he helped transport patients and worked with doctors and other personnel to keep things running smoothly. He also received a letter of recognition for his professional and dedicated service. During the summer of 2009, Raihan Sayeed served at a medical office, where he shadowed the primary care physician and a pediatrician, receiving letters of recommendation from both. Through the Al-Kareem Welfare Society, Raihan Sayeed assisted doctors in rural India with medical service at the organization’s camp, where it provided free medical screenings and awareness programs. Al-Kareem awarded Raihan Sayeed with an exemplary community service testimonial for his dedicated service at the camp. In addition to his volunteer work, Raihan Sayeed prepared for college while still in high school when he took summer courses at Moraine Valley Community College and, additionally, worked as a data entry clerk at Management Principles, Inc. and Vital Home & Healthcare, Inc.
