I have always been fascinated with the city of angels. My dad was born and raised in Los Angeles, and the thought of living in a big city was beyond me. Being born in Athens and living in Marietta for my elementary school years, I began to learn about the Atlanta area. I wanted to believe that it was as big and had as many opportunities as Los Angeles, but it just didn’t. Come summertime in 2013, my family and I were one year off from completing a ten-month road trip around the United States, where we visited forty-six states. Our last main destination before returning back home to Marietta was the city, I’ve dreamt about visiting, Los Angeles. From the moment I drove through the city on the 5 freeway, the city felt like my new home; although it wasn’t. During the drive home, I sulked in the back, passenger seat of the car. All I could think about was what my life would be like if we just stayed. This remained as all I thought about for the next year. Come July 2013, my family and I were eating dinner at the kitchen table. My dad popped the question asking if any of us were bored in Marietta. To no one’s surprise in our family, we all replied with a forceful “yes”. Less than a month later, my family was back on the road heading to join the city of angels. Living in Los Angeles for the past 7 years, it truly has been everything I could imagine. Whether it be meeting famous people, taking day trips to the beach, feeling earthquakes, and being a Disneyland Annual Passholder, I have grown to fully embrace the LA lifestyle that I have grown accustom to.
