Richard C Alston

Richard Alston has performed in recitals and as a soloist with orchestras throughout the United States and Europe, and on numerous recordings and radio and television broadcasts.
Considered a child prodigy, Mr. Alston began his studies with Dorothy Earley and later studied with Sylvia Rabinof. He made his New York debut at the age of seventeen with the historic Symphony of the New World at Avery Fisher hall in Lincoln Center NYC.
At the request of Denes Agay, Mr. Alston recorded an album of the renowned composer's piano works, and, on the invitation of Maestro Paul Freeman, recorded the Arensky Piano Concerto with the Czech National Orchestra. He was also featured in a PBS documentary. (See the Link Above)
Mr. Alston performed the role of "Jasbo Brown" in the Metropolitan Opera production of Porgy and Bess. He later portrayed the role again in the New Jersey State Opera production at the historic Symphony Hall, in Newark, NJ.
Mr. Alston is assistant professor and coordinator of the performing arts at Essex County College in Newark, NJ.
He holds both a bachelor's degree and a master's degree from The Juilliard School.
