According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS), employment of dental hygienists in the U.S. is projected to grow 33% from 2012 to 2022. This growth rate is much faster than the average for all occupations. Due to the advances in research linking oral health to general health, the demand for preventative dental services has vastly increased and will continue to. Because preventative dental services are often provided by dental hygienists, it is no wonder the job outlook has a bright future.
