Richard Baumer
A 5th year PhD student in the Department of Materials Science and Engineering at the MIT, Richard works at the intersection of materials science and massive parallel computing to reveal the origin of property degradation in irradiated metals and enable the next generation of structural metals for nuclear reactors.
Richard's thesis topic embodies his desire to use advances in materials science to solve real engineering problems that yield a more sustainable and productive world.
In his spare time, Richard enjoys running along the Charles River and reading The Economist.
