Rebecca L. Alter

Since Rebecca was in 8th grade, she knew that she wanted to work in the hospitality industry. She remembers being a young girl exploring hotels, looking inside the conference rooms and wandering the hallways. Now as a hospitality major at UMass Amherst her dreams are closer to reality.

Rebecca was born and raised in Framingham, MA. Coming from a diverse community taught Rebecca how to work with a wide range of people. Working with all different types of people is very important in the hospitality industry. Rebecca took these skills to Long Island, NY this past summer during an internship at the Piping Rock Club. There she had the opportunity to work with people from all over the world and develop her team building skills even more.

To keep developing these skills, Rebecca plans to study abroad in London during spring 2014. Interning there will really give her an opportunity to experience how top hotels take good care of foreign guests. And of course, London is incredibly rich with culture and history, and an excellent base for exploring not only Great Britain but other European countries!
