I am a current senior at the University of Delaware where I am studying Fashion Merchandising. After graduation I hope to get a job in either product development or planning and buying. I am hoping that my leadership experience will help me attain this job. I was elected to serve on the executive board of the Transfer Student Association and Kappa Alpha Theta at the University of Delaware. I am also a member of Alpha Phi Omega, a National Community Service Fraternity. Some of my responsibilities on the Transfer Student Association board include meeting weekly with other board members, planning events for students to attend, and planning monthly meetings for members to attend. In Kappa Alpha Theta I am responsible for monitoring the member’s social media, to promote the sorority on campus and on social media, and to purchase the PR item that is given to all members. Being a member of Alpha Phi Omega involves performing at least 20 hours of community service around campus or in neighboring areas, attending fellowship events, and weekly chapter meetings. These organizations have strengthened my time management and organizational skills, as well as my leadership and teamwork skills. I have been awarded Deans Lists Honors for every semester of my college career. I am a very hardworking, and caring student. This can be shown through my academic achievements and my elected positions. This most recent semester I have had two exams and a project due on the same day. I also had to meet with my sorority’s executive board members the night before everything was due. However, I managed to attend the meeting, study for the exams, and finish the project on time by starting to study earlier in advance and having a few extra diet cokes during the day. I take every assignment seriously, and try to do my best on all work I turn in. I am very passionate about fashion and the contradiction of conformity and individuality; some people stand out by wearing certain clothes and others might wear those same clothes and be conforming. I also like how adding or taking away one element of dress can change an outfit completely. I feel these attributes paired with my other skills and Fashion Merchandising education will make me a great candidate for future jobs and internships in this industry.
