Rebecca Morton
'Somewhere in the back of our minds and the deepest depths of our hearts lies a desire, a passion for something so wonderful it can only be fulfilled by pure fantasy. Fantasies that make the ordinary extraordinary, that allow for everyday miracles to happen.'
I sing. I love to sing, I have always sung. I trained at the WA Academy of Performing Arts in Musical Theatre and have worked for Opera Companies, Musical Theatre, also Shakespeare and 60s Rock and Roll. Now I write and produce and tour my own shows, in collaboration with director Deb Sonenberg, set designer and builder Michael Gray, as well as various amazing musicians. I include wonderful songs from all over - mostly from the 30s to the 60s - and my shows are universal stories to do with women and motherhood and passion and art. Irrepressibly joyous and bursting with life, I want my shows to weave a little magic and make wishes come true.
Look out for When Destiny Calls and The Red Shoes - coming soon to a venue near you!
I also love to sing in French: 'Conjuring up images of cobbled streets and stylish cocktail bars, Morton gave the audience a little piece of Paris on a chilly Melbourne evening.'
