Becca Smith
Design researcher and Radio DJ in Cambridge, Massachusetts
Hi! I'm a design researcher, focused on improving tangible experiences and creating positive social impact. I previously led qualitative needs assessment efforts at MIT's D-Lab and authored the D-Lab Scale-Ups User Research Framework, an in-depth resource for conducting qualitative research in cross-cultural contexts (link above). I conducted research with smallholder farmers in Zambia and with household water collectors in Kenya; other fieldwork took me to Tanzania, Ghana, India, Brazil and Haiti. Now I am focused on connecting in my local community around food, agriculture, bicycling, music and art.
You can find me on the radio (hosting Breakfast of Champions, a weekly indie rock show on WMBR 88.1fm), riding my bike, cooking vegetarian dishes to share, making art, hosting house shows, or in a hammock!
Feel free to reach out with any questions, comments or collaboration opportunities.
