I’m at the University of Georgia studying for an animal health major to become a veterinarian, where I would prefer to work with larger animals, at an establishment like a zoo, or an aquarium. My passion for animals began when I was in my pre-teen years, and I made a habit of taking in animals, like birds, possums, and strays nursing them back to health and letting them go. After doing this type of thing for a while, my interest for the work grew, alongside my love for animals and only two years later I signed up for internships in the field at Sugar Hill Animal Hospital, and the Humane Center; where I did work related to my passion like shadowing technicians, washing dogs, and making vaccines for the animals. This past summer nine animals were sheltered at my home, six dogs and three cats; five of which were there until acceptable homes could be found for them, two belonged to my neighbors, and were being watched, the other two belonged to my family. So with that being said, I’m ecstatic about working in the veterinary field, and will stop to help an injured or incapable animal if I see one. After schooling I’ll be qualified to provide help to animals who have been harmed or inconvenienced and I look forward to making this line of work a major aspect of my everyday life.
