Rebecca Cooper Dupin

WASHINGTON BUSINESS REPORT anchor Rebecca Cooper has been based in Washington for the last two decades, covering the world of politics, national security and finance from the White House, Capitol Hill and the major federal agencies. Her first job in journalism was during college, working for the WALL STREET JOURNAL/EUROPE in Brusssels, Belgium, followed by jobs at UK's Guardian and Observer newspapers and then covering business and finance in Washington for the Journal Record newspaper. From 1988-1992 she served as the senior international trade and health care legislative assistant to Senator David Boren (D-OK), a ranking member of the Senate Finance Committee and Chairman of the Senate Select Committee on Intelligence. During her tenure on Capitol Hill, Rebecca was one of the senior staff members involved in the writing of key business legislation, including NAFTA, WTO, GATT and Most Favored Nation status federal law. From Capitol Hill, Rebecca then returned to her journalism roots, working for five years at CNN in Washington covering Congress and the White House and helping launch CNN Financial News, and for five years at ABC News, first based in New York City as an editorial producer for newsmagazine "20/20" and then based in Washington, as a producer for WORLD NEWS TONIGHT WITH PETER JENNINGS and a reporter for ABC WORLD NEWS NOW, NewsOne and ABC radio. She is the recipient of several journalism awards, including the Peabody, DuPont, Murrow, Cable Ace and Emmy awards. Rebecca also returned to public service to serve as the youngest Chief of Staff in the Clinton Administration Cabinet, during her tenure as Chief of Staff to the U.S. Ambassador to the United Nations Bill Richardson. A native of Oklahoma City and the proud daughter of two OU Sooners, Rebecca is an honors graduate of Duke University and attended the Universitaire Libre de Bruxelles in Belgium and American University in Washington.
