I am a pastor, artist, writer, and avid college football fan. (The last has nothing to do with the former.)

Having graduated with a Bachelor of Journalism from the University of Nebraska, Lincoln in 1995, I then proceeded to work in the Los Angeles, CA area from 1996-2001. My career began working in the story development department for Walt Disney Feature Animation. This fostered both my love of writing and filmmaking - as well as my love of art. I then moved into the realm of Marketing/Advertising as a graphic designer and evenutally Marketing Director.

Feeling I had a deeper calling in life, I was led to visit Luther Seminary in 2003 and enrolled in 2004. In 2008 I graduated with a Masters of Divinity from Luther Seminary and was called in 2009 to First Lutheran Church in Kearney, NE.

Being a pastor has allowed me to integrate my three loves - writing, filmmaking, and art - into my faith life more deeply. In 2013 I began a Creative Faith Ministry that allows people to dig more deeply into scripture while expressing their experiences with the divine.

For me, art and scripture share many of the same elements. When I create a piece, it frequently has a particular meaning and message I am intending to convey - in this case usually a spiritual theme of some sort. For those who view it - the message and meaning can be completely different than what I intended. How humans experience and interpret both scripture and art has a profound impact on our lives and our conscious understanding of the divine - and just because someone walks away with a different understanding of my art than what I intended doesn't mean their understanding of it is wrong. How we read an understand scripture is likewise subject to our interpretation and understanding of what God's Word is saying in our lives. My view and understanding of God will never be identical to someone else's.
