Rebecca Gaskin Gain

As a principal with Nexant, Inc., Rebecca Gaskin Gain draws on extensive experience in international finance and law. She began her career in New York before relocating to Prague to serve as legal advisor to the Czech Ministry of Privatization, National Property Fund, and Ministry of Industry and Trade. Rebecca Gaskin Gain went on to advise on privatization matters for the Russian Privatization Centre and the Ugandan Minister of State for Finance, after which time she became a corporate finance consultant in Zimbabwe.
In 1998 Rebecca Gain became a counselor at law with Mitchell and Associates in Kinshasa, the Democratic Republic of Congo's capital city. She represented investors in telecommunications and mining ventures, collaborating regularly on government issues and advising on regulatory matters.
Ms. Gain then transitioned into banking as the chief executive officer of the Standard Bank Congo. There, she eliminated the necessity for support from the parent Standard Bank Group, increased the bank's base of deposits by more than 1,000 percent, and recovered half of all defaulted or near-defaulted loans. She served Standard Bank Congo for three years, after which she accepted a position in London as a director of The Standard Bank Group's Africa division, and joining the Africa division's executive committee.
After a subsequent decade of service as corporate advisor to investors with interests in the Balkans and Africa, Ms. Gain moved into her current role. She serves as lead transaction advisor for energy initiatives and projects on the African continent.
