Rebecca Joubert

Student in Nederland

Read my blog

Hey there guys,

I'm a bit late to this party, sorry. Thankfully everything is up and running now.

I’m Rebecca. I’m a student living in the Nederlands. I moved here from Curacao when I was 19. I was born and raised there and my parents still live there. This means nice warm sunny beach vacations back home (Yay =D). Hopefully I'll be able to move back and teach there soon. This is also one of my main motives for participating in the WTP. Being able to teach in and help develop a bilingual educational system back home that could possibly benefit the multicultural society of Curacao would be truly amazing.

I am a fan of music, dance, and food. I've been dancing ballet since I was 6 and still do so til this day. You can wake me up in the middle of the night for some delicious food any time and I'll never say no to a good party (maybe I should though, haha). I love studying, and can at that be a bit of an overthinking perfectionist, thankfully these personality traits go hand in hand with creativity, curiosity, and a jolly hardworking positive attitude =D.

I am currently a student teacher, teaching Biology at Rijnlands Lyceum Wassenaar. I am combining this with the WTP-study in Leiden. This is taxing but also very rewarding. Being able to directly implement newly acquired theories and principles is so much fun and makes studying such a hands-on utilitarian experience . I truly enjoy both! So far my experience with teaching is very positive! I've always wanted to become a teacher. Friends would even jokingly mock me and say that I would be "miss Joubert" later in life. So I'm very happy to finally be here now. Because being able to teach and pass on knowledge and thereby help develop each unique student in their own respective way is truly amazing and rewarding experience.

I am a blank slate when it comes to my expectations regarding the telecollaboration exchange. I do however look forward to getting to know you guys and working together.
