San Antonio, Texas

I attended the University of Texas at Austin, where I received my Bachelor of Journalism in 2009. I have interned, volunteered, and worked at a few educational nonprofits over the years. Currently, I am working on the finance side of a local nonprofit called Youth Empowerment Services.

As the granddaughter of hardworking immigrants and the daughter of first-generation college graduates, I have seen the value of education in low income, minority families. This passion has translated to a vision to bridge any education gaps and use it as a source to fight major issues that plague society today, such as poverty.

While living in Spain briefly in 2008, I interviewed a Nationalist soldier from the Spanish Civil war, danced in the fountains celebrating Spain’s win in the Euro Cup, danced flamenco in gypsy caves in Granada, and witnessed the dance between man and bull in Sevilla. Each place I have visited has become a new lens to view the world.

Currently, I am studying nonprofit management at Our Lady of the Lake University and researching applicable ways to use social media as a tool for advocacy.
