I started EC with my baby when he was just a few weeks old (later than planned, but we had a rough start!) As our journey unfolded, the lack of EC-friendly clothes available was obvious; so many snaps, so many onsies that prevented potty access, so little choice of alternatives. And here in England, we are not fans of putting our bottoms on show (cute, but not gonna work over here), so something more discreet was needed, and fast: I decided to put my sewing and design degree to some use. I began making things for my baby, testing them out, making them again, and coming up with prototypes which I quickly realised might benefit other parents.

I have a background in design and sewing, and also work as a Children's Nurse, so I immediately saw the health benefits of reducing nappy dependence. I also hate waste and the thought of using landfill nappies just filled me with guilt (did you know it can take up to 500 YEARS for just one disposable nappy to decompose???!!!). Something had to change and the result was the creation of Little Bunny Bear , my very own shop and my first ever business was created in February 2014.

Alongside my passion for EC, I wanted to explore up-cycling and repurposing of existing things as a way to reduce waste and reduce unethical fabric production. This was actually easier than I thought, thanks to the multitude of charity shops or yard sales and everywhere I looked I found things just waiting to be cut up into new things. My creative side got stuck in and the results were proving practical, cost effective and better still it helped generate important income for charitable organisations. So I build these ideas into everything I do, from selecting fabrics to knowing where to shop and ensuring fair pay to retailers as well as myself as the manufacturer, designer, marketer. My my primary aim was never to get rich; this is why I hope you will see the love and care that goes into every aspect of my business, from the way things are made and sold to the commitment to give 10% of all my profits to charity.
