Rebecca Poling

Rebecca is a native Texan who has lived in Dallas most of her life. She writes the Dallas Animal Rescue and National Cat Rescue columns for Examiner.com, and publishes her own blog, dfwanimalrescue.com. Rebecca grew up with pets and became an active advocate in 2000. She is the Founder and President of Companions For Life, a non-profit organization providing humane education and shelter outreach services; Rescue Liaison for the Dallas Animal Shelter Commission, an advisory board to the City of Dallas Animal Services & Adopt Center; Advisory Board Member, Dallas Animal Advocates, Paws In The City, DFW Rescue Me, Take Me Home Pet Rescue, and Metroplex Animal Coalition; and former Vice President, Feral Friends Community Cat Alliance. She is certified in disaster response by both the Humane Society of the United States and United Animal Nations. She worked with Animal Rescue New Orleans and Alley Cat Allies rescuing cats after Hurricane Katrina. Rebecca is the coordinator for the 2011 and 2012 Texas Unites for Animals conference, a joint venture between the Texas Animal Shelter Coalition and the Texas Federation of Humane Societies.
