Music is one of the biggest parts of my life, and has had a major influence on the person I am today. Both of my parents are musicians, so we were constantly attending concerts, discussing musical pieces at dinner, or listening to the most obesered genres in the car when I was young. Later in life though, I chose to continue this passion for music for myself. I helped start a praise band at my church in the ninth grade, and it became one of the most significant creative outlets in my life. Music quickly became the way that I expressed myself, and I was able to voice the feelings going on inside me. I love the way music allows me to tell a story that not only relates to where I have come from, but also can relate to many others. Music doesn’t have one meaning, but instead it has so much room for interpretation. Music has helped me get through some times of depression, and times of celebration. This picture shows myself and the band I’m apart of singing praise music on the streets of New Orleans. This is probably one of my favorite music moments. We were able to stand on the streets, that were crowded with people, and play music that praises God in a city known for it’s darkness. Music is connection, unity, and expression. I think it’s so amazing that I have been given the talent of music, because it is such a universal language. I am all about being able to involve everyone in what you do, and that is possible with music. Anywhere I go, whether it’s down the street or in a different state, I am able to connect with people through my music, and that is why I have fallen in love with it.
