Dobbs Ferry, NY
I’m Rebekah Shackney. I’m a licensed psychotherapist in the Rivertowns in Westchester County, New York, a wife, a mother of two and a person who understands the struggle with depression. I know how hard it can be to make it through the day with depression. I know the paralyzing sadness and soul eroding shame. I know the fear that nothing will ever get better. I also know that you can get better. You can regain the vital, fulfilling life you once had. You can be happy, and I can help.
I graduated from the University of Michigan with an MSW, and I went on to get postgraduate certification in Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, psychodynamic psychotherapy and imaginary exposure for Post Traumatic Stress Disorder. I worked for several years at New York Presbyterian Hospital on an acute care unit, where I helped establish an inpatient DBT program. Now I am in private practice with an office in Tarrytown, NY. My professional experience gave me first hand look at the pervasive problem of depression. The good news is with the proper on-going treatment, people with depression can live productive and pleasurable lives.
